UC Berkeley's Lunch Poems is in season, with monthly events from Sept-Apr (excepting Oct): one poet gets to stretch out at noon, with extended readings by the likes of Aria Aber (“Hard Damage”) on Nov 5 and Yusef Komunyakaa (“Neon Vernacular”) on Dec 3. All events are free.
Aria Aber was raised in Germany. Her debut book "Hard Damage" won the Prairie Schooner Book Prize in Poetry and a Whiting Award. Her work has appeared in The New Yorker, POETRY, the New Republic, and elsewhere. A graduate of the NYU MFA in Creative Writing, she holds fellowships from Kundiman, Dickinson House and the Wisconsin Institute of Creative Writing. She is a 2020-2022 Stegner Fellow in Poetry.
