About
A.C.T. presents the classic musical, The Wizard of Oz, from Tony Award–nominated director/choreographer Sam Pinkleton (Soft Power and Natasha, Pierre & The Great Comet of 1812) and Tony Award-winning designer David Zinn (Edward Albee’s Seascape at A.C.T).
SF/Arts Curator Insight
We all know the beloved story by L. Frank Baum (prairie, tornado, witches, etc.) and the filmed musical (music/lyrics by Harold Arlen and E. Y. Harburg), but what’s special in American Conservatory Theater’s stage version is the talent involved: Danny Scheie as the scarecrow, Cathleen Riddley as the lion and many other luminaries; Sam Pinkleton (who helmed “Natasha, Pierre & The Great Comet of 1812” on Broadway) directs and choreographs.
