But when he asks his lifelong friend Azar to tutor Baran, all three lives begin to unravel as the two women fall into a passionate love affair. Torange Yeghiazarian, best known locally as the founder/director of Golden Thread Productions, is also a playwright: In her new play, a young Iranian woman, brought to the Bay Area by her husband, falls in love with her (female) tutor. Sahar Assaf directs for the LGBTQ-focused New Conservatory, which presents the world premiere in association with the Middle East-oriented Golden Thread.
