Brevity is the soul of wit, so the saying goes, and the small canvas format can distill inspired filmmaking. Several local directors here make that case. In Linda Dahlem’s “Bird Keeper” a young woman is aided by a dreamcatcher, who helps her find the way home; Xin Liu’s mini-thriller, “The Secret,” explores the toll of hidden evil, and Michael Crocker’s doc, “Lead Change,” follows Oakland-based, barrier breaking polo player, Dale Johnson, and his trusty steed, Sunny.
