Tover began focusing on narrative figurative work at U. C. Influenced and inspired by the figurative German Expressionists (as well as American painter Alice Neel), Toby states "I paint subjects to elicit a connectedness with the viewer - everyday life 'clip shots', moments frozen in time, have held a
fascination for me. Satire, humor and personal isolation are strong threads that weave them- selves throughout my work.
Epperson Gallery, Founded in 1996 by Gerald and Joanne Epperson, inside a century-old brick building which formerly housed a Nash Car Dealership. Located in historic downtown Crockett, the gallery shows a wide variety of mediums with a focus on Ceramic Arts. In 2019 Suzanne M Long took on the role of Curator. There is a growing Workshop Program.
