People in Plazas
About
Each year the “People in Plazas” (PiP) free summer music festival in San Francisco produces more than 130 concerts in 15 different venues on or near Market Street from the Embarcadero to Fourth Street.
SF/Arts Curator Insight
For over three decades, People in Plazas has enriched workers’ and visitors’ lives with their outdoor lunchtime concert programs. Presenting 66 live concerts this year, People in Plazas uses public spaces across the city to host performances from musicians from a vast variety of genres. Passersby can revel in the Latin sounds of the Musica Calibre Trio, Reggae from The Fyah Band, or Bluegrass from The High Water Line. Come September, Lisa Lui will be performing Manouche Jazz, and lovers of Soul won’t want to miss The Profit Martians. And in October, Aki Kumar will bring his unique Bollywood Blues sounds to the public. All performances are free!
