"More, More, Oar" A Tribute to Skip Spence
About
The event is a celebration of the great Skip Spence and a performance of his outsider masterpiece 'Oar,' with special guest artists, and to raise money for the excellent charity MusiCares who are helping musicians in need everyday.
SF/Arts Curator Insight
The Chapel celebrates Oar, a legendary solo recording by the brilliant psychedelic rock pioneer Skip Spence, an influential multi-instrumentalist in the 1960s who was Jefferson Airplane’s original drummer and cofounder of Moby Grape. On this night, an all-star band that includes members of Sonic Youth, Mudhoney, Sun Ra Arkestra, Vetiver, and Howlin Rain will back up special guest vocalists, raising funds for MusiCares.
