About
The San Francisco Lowrider Council, in partnership with the City of San Francisco, the Mission Merchants Association, and the Calle 24 Latino Cultural District, proudly presents the LOWRIDER PARADE and “KING of the STREETS” Hopping Competition — a historic, first-of-its-kind celebration of Latino culture, heritage, and community pride.
SF/Arts Curator Insight
Since 1981, the San Francisco Lowrider Council has celebrated community pride. This year, they present three free events: Lowrider Parade, “King of the Streets” Hopping Competition, and Lowrider Car Show. The parade showcases the best of car culture while supporting artists, neighborhood businesses, and preservation efforts; the Hopping Competition exhibits the latest and greatest in hydraulic parts with a prize of $10,000 and the “King of the Streets” awarded to the champion hopper; and the Car Show lets you get up close and personal with beautiful rides. Can’t make it to the neighborhood? No problem! For the first time, the Lowrider Parade will be televised on CBS.
