Bodies inside and out constructed from repurposed materials populate both Transmission Gallery's Mission District location and its neighboring Jerry Barrish Studio. Van Duren's "Gut Feeling" show thrillingly reimagines the human body's various internal systems combining colorful ceramics with bits of recycled wood and glycerine. Former bail bondsman Barrish's "A Certain Style" frankenstein's expressive neighborhood characters out of found objects. Both shows reimagine relationships, one is about processes inside the body and the other brings bodies together in community on the street.
