HALIE! The Mahalia Jackson Musical, is a new work which celebrates the life of the gospel legend and Civil Rights activist. Guided by a strong religious calling, Jackson's gospel performances connected with audiences across the world while deeply connecting to both the struggles and joys of African Americans. Combining strong musical performances and a unique look onto her life, HALIE will both educate and enrapture audiences.

The music of famed gospel singer and civil rights activist Mahalia Jackson (1911-1972) is likely to rock the rafters on Magic Theatre’s small stage in this Lorraine Hansberry Theatre world premiere. Created by Wendy E. Taylor in New York and co written/directed by Darryl V. Jones, it’s been in development for years. The four-member cast features Jeannine Anderson as the eponymous Jackson, who rose from poverty in New Orleans to worldwide fame.
