A Love That Tears A Dynasty Apart

Adapted from a classic of world literature, Dream of the Red Chamber is an opulent exploration of love, lust, and political intrigue in imperial China by composer Bright Sheng and Tony Award winner David Henry Hwang.

Composed by the Chinese-born American composer Bright Sheng, who wrote the libretto with the celebrated playwright David Henry Hwang (M. Butterfly), Dream of the Red Chamber is based on the 18th century Cao Xueqin novel of the same name, a tale of lust, love and political machinations in imperial China. It features soprano Meigui Zhang and tenor Konu Kim in their SF Opera debuts.
