City Lights hosts a virtual event with poets Brandon Shimoda (“Hydra Medusa”) and Emily Luan (“回 / Return”), both just published by Nightboat Books. Shimoda’s memoir and book of mourning “The Grave on the Wall” (City Lights, 2019) received the 2020 PEN Open Book Award. “In “回 / Return”, Emily Lee Luan’s stunning reflections on sorrow haunt the sensorium” (Cathy Park Hong). Shimoda teaches at Colorado College; Luan lives in New York City.
