Two of the Bay Area's great poets read from their work. Snyder gained prominence early in his career as a member of the Beats, since earning international acclaim for his nature writing, which is informed by his immersion in Zen meditation and Buddhism. Hirshfield, whose 9th collection “Ledger” is out in March, is also author of two books of essays, “Nine Gates” and “Ten Windows”, and has served as Chancellor of the Academy of American Poets.
