Surreal Sublime: Contemporary Landscapes

San Jose Institute of Contemporary Art

This exhibition features artists exploring perception, psyche, and the wonders of nature through their dreamlike and sometimes apocalyptic interpretations of natural landscapes.

This is what SF/Arts curator Christian L. Frock has to say about Surreal Sublime: Contemporary Landscapes :

SJICA’s summer exhibition might offer an antidote to and/or escape from the nonstop climate crisis news cycle. Between constant wildfires in California and the watery, windy deluge elsewhere, it is unsurprising that artists are considering the natural landscape in simultaneously utopian and apocalyptic terms. Mary Anne Kluth is a personal favorite, with many others to discover.
