On various nights of his SFJAZZ run, the engaging bassist and composer Marcus Shelby premieres “Blackball: The Negro Leagues and the Blues,” a big band piece flavored with physical comedy; performs his historical “San Francisco Blues” show with writer Daniel Handler; and toasts the music of Duke Ellington.
