Crossover (SF)

San Francisco Chamber Orchestra
Explore the fascinating intersections of classical, pop and jazz with the Catalyst String Quartet ("invariably energetic and finely burnished" according to The New York Times) and SFCO's own rock-star violist, Darcy Rindt. Hear how Mozart invented jazz, along with romantic works by the British master Sir Edward Elgar, a brand-new work by Ms. Rindt, and covers of tunes by Dave Brubeck, Brittany Spears and Muse.
This is what SF/Arts curator Jesse Hamlin has to say about Crossover (SF) :
The Catalyst String Quartet, equally adept playing with the St. Paul Chamber Orchestra and jazz singer Cecile McLorin Salvant, joins the ensemble and its “rock-star violist” Darcy Rindt to ply crosscurrents of pop, jazz and classical music, playing pieces by Mozart, Brubeck and Britney Spears.
