Lina Wertmuller

Cinema Italia

This one-day festival features "Swept Away," "Seven Beauties" and others. See the website for complete details.

This is what SF/Arts curator Sura Wood has to say about Lina Wertmuller :

The trailblazing Italian director Lina Wertmuller, who started her professional life in a touring puppet show, was a sensation when she hit the international movie scene in the 1970s; she later was the first woman nominated for a Best Director Oscar. A one-day marathon homage at the Castro Theatre includes “Swept Away,” “Seven Beauties,” “Love & Anarchy” and “Behind the White Glasses,” a documentary portrait of the woman and her career.
