San Francisco will pay homage to the great Maestro with a selection of his works at the Castro Theatre. This will be Cinema Italia San Francisco's 10th program, in collaboration with Luce Cinecittà and the Italian Cultural Institute of San Francisco.
All films have been digitally restored by Luce Cinecittà, Cineteca di Bologna and Cineteca Nazionale for this landmark anniversary celebration.
For the centenary of the maestro’s birth, Luce Cinecitta restored many of his films and organized a touring retrospective. This one-day homage features a well-chosen quartet. “I Vitelloni,” an early effort about a group of eternal boys trying and failing to come of age in a provincial town; “Juliet of the Spirits,” starring Giulietta Masina, and “Amarcord,” a fantastical ode to Fellini’s youth in Rimini, are among those shown on the Castro’s big screen.
