Jean Shin | Pause

Asian Art Museum

Using discarded cell phones and electronic cables as the material and rough-hewn rocks from Chinese gardens as the form, Jean Shin's site-specific installation asks how technological innovation contributes to climate change.

This is what SF/Arts curator Christian L. Frock has to say about Jean Shin | Pause :

With this solo exhibition New York-based artist Jean Shin transformed Bay Area e-waste, including outmoded cell phones, laptops, and mile-upon-mile of cords and dongles from the last twenty years, into new sculptural forms that ask the viewer to pause in their daily digital rituals to connect in real time. San Francisco e-recycling company Green Citizen helped source the e-abundance.
