San Francisco Museum of Modern Art

SOFT POWER is an exhibition of recent work and 15 new commissions by 20 artists from around the world. Artists gathered here understand themselves as social actors, question their responsibility as citizens, and are aware of their role as public intellectuals and provocateurs. They are part of a generation of artists who explore the potential of art, and the potency of artist as citizen.

This is what SF/Arts curator Christian L. Frock has to say about SOFT POWER :

Soft Power considers the ways artists deploy art to challenge the viewing public to consider their roles as citizens and social actors in these politically fraught times. Curated by Eungie Joo, SFMOMA’s curator of contemporary art, this survey includes works by Minerva Cuevas, LaToya Ruby Frazier, Eamon Ore-Giron, Xaviera Simmons, and Tavares Strachan, among many others.
