Noguchi and Hasegawa in Postwar Japan

Asian Art Museum

Explore the friendship and artistic kinship of Japanese American sculptor and designer Isamu Noguchi (1904–1988) and Japanese painter, theorist and teacher Saburo Hasegawa (1906–1957). Focusing on the decade following their consequential meeting in 1950, this exhibition reveals how both artists sought to fuse Japanese tradition and modernist form to find a new direction for art in the aftermath of WW II.
