Gilbert and Sullivan's H.M.S. Pinafore

Lamplighters Music Theater

Known as one of the "Big Three" of the Gilbert and Sullivan canon, PINAFORE was G&S's first international sensation. It's full of unforgettable songs, drama and comedy, social conflict, and some of the best male chorus music in the canon! With new men's costumes to complete a historically accurate vision of the show, creative and realistic staging, plus exquisite singing and full orchestra, this production of PINAFORE is sure to delight!

This is what SF/Arts curator Jean Schiffman has to say about Gilbert and Sullivan's H.M.S. Pinafore :

The captain of the Pinafore, in Gilbert & Sullivan’s 1878 seafaring musical satire, “is very, very good” and “commands a right good crew,” and the same could be said of director Ellen Brooks. “Pinafore,” G&S’s first big international hit, is part of the repertoire of Lamplighters, the now-almost-septuagenarian local company. The show moves from venue to venue (see the company’s website for details) with Baker Peeples directing a full orchestra.
