This is what SF/Arts curator Christian L. Frock has to say about John Muir National Historic Site :

John Muir was one of America’s most storied naturalists. His writing greatly influenced the government in efforts to protect Yosemite, Sequoia, Grand Canyon and Mt. Rainier as national parks. Much of this writing was done from his home in Martinez, where his family managed a large fruit ranch. Explore the historic home and the grounds—cell phone tours are offered for self-navigators.
