Cecile Mclorin Salvant's 'Ogresse'

Ogresse is a dark fairy tale, telling the story of a devilish monster-woman with a taste for human flesh.

This is what SF/Arts curator Jesse Hamlin has to say about Cecile Mclorin Salvant's 'Ogresse' :

SFJAZZ presents the thrilling young jazz singer and composer Cécile McLorin Salvant performing her new song cycle Ogresse, about “a big black beast” that likes human flesh. Darcy James Argue arranged the songs and conducts a chamber orchestra that includes organ, marimba, oboe, banjo, tuba and string quartet.
