Sat at Pershing Square: Pasados del Presidio: Los Californianos Commemoration of the Anza Expedition. This program includes formal remarks, a procession by the Amigos de Anza horse-mounted riders, and a roll call of the people who made the original 1,200 mile trek from Sonora, Mexico in 1776.
Tortilla making, Mexican folk dancing and a tour of artifacts and viewing of the original adobe walls are just a few of the historical and fun-filled activities honoring the rich Mexican and Spanish heritage of the Presidio. On Saturday, Bay Area families also get a chance to meet descendants of the original families of Juan Bautista de Anza’s expedition that led to the founding of the Presidio in 1776.
