The incomparable Joffrey Ballet continues its five-year Berkeley residency, returning with a recent piece by ballet master Nicolas Blanc that was developed on the Berkeley campus two seasons ago; the California premieres of works by Liam Scarlett (inspired by Baroque music) and Stephanie Martinez (set to Stravinsky's Dumbarton Oaks Concerto); and a recent creation by Justin Peck (with music by Baltimore electronic music wizard Dan Deacon).

This is what SF/Arts curator Heather Desaulniers has to say about The Joffrey Ballet :

Ongoing artistic dialogue is a mission at Cal Performances and one of the ways they lean into that process is through multi-year residencies with world-class dance artists like those at The Joffrey Ballet. The two entities continue their exchange with a stellar new program: Christopher Wheeldon’s “Commedia,” Stephanie Martinez’ “Bliss!,” Nicolas Blanc’s “Beyond the Shore” and Justin Peck’s “The Times Are Racing.”
