San Francisco Gay Men's Chorus

Marking the 50th anniversary of the Stonewall Riots and San Francisco's own Compton Cafeteria Riot in 1966, SFGMC honors one of the major milestones that catapulted the Gay Rights movement by paying tribute to the group that was instrumental in its launch--drag queens. This concert celebrates the Imperial Court, the Grand Ducal Council and the Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence, who have organized and raised funds for the community.

This is what SF/Arts curator Jesse Hamlin has to say about Queens :

The chorus’ Pride Month concert QUEENS honors the LGBTQ rights movement on the 50th anniversary of the Stonewall riots. The music includes Sylvester’s “You Make Me Feel (Mighty Real)” and Andra Day’s “Rise Up.” Also appearing: two Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence.
