Tradition Interrupted

Bedford Gallery, Lesher Center for the Arts

Tradition Interrupted is an exhibition that explores the methods used by artists to conflate contemporary ideas with traditional art and craft in a range of media, from rugs and quilts to metal and ceramics.

This is what SF/Arts curator Christian L. Frock has to say about Tradition Interrupted :

This expansive group exhibition features artists from around the world: Azerbaijan, Ghana, Mexico, Vietnam and Pakistan, as well as throughout the United States. Each artist employs traditional craft techniques to complicate our perceptions of art and convention in light of contemporary politics. Featuring works by Suzanne Husky, Dinh Q. Lê and Ramekon O’Arwisters, among many others.
