Weightless

American Conservatory Theater

Inspired by the story of Procne and Philomela from Ovid's Metamorphoses, Weightless weaves together myth with the Kilbanes' celebrated indie rock sound to tell a story of sisterhood, love, betrayal, and rebirth. Part concert, part play, part dream, Weightless is equal parts blistering rock show and bleeding-edge experimental theater.

This is what SF/Arts curator Jean Schiffman had to say about Weightless :

The Kilbanes (wife and husband duo Kate Kilbane and Dan Moses) had a big success last year with their indie-rock opera, based on the story of Procne and Philomela from Ovid’s “Metamorphosis.” A Z Space/piece by piece production, it included the inimitable Julia Brothers as an acerbic goddess. They’re all back, plus other performers, after a New York appearance, to once again explore sisterhood through music and myth. Becca Wolff directs.
