Handel tapped the Biblical story of King Saul and his giant-slaying son-in-law David for the oratorio “Saul,” a tale of envy and love flavored with ghosts and lunacy. Nicolas McGegan leads the Philharmonia Baroque Orchestra & Chorale, with countertenor Aryeh Nussbaum Cohen as David and soprano Yulia Van Doren as Merab.
