Berkeley Rep

Based on the myths of Ovid; Written and Directed by Mary Zimmerman; from the translation by David R. Slavitt; Co-production with the Guthrie Theater. Dreams and reality collide with gods and mortals in Mary Zimmerman's ode to the power of love--and the shadows that lurk beneath it.

This is what SF/Arts curator Jean Schiffman had to say about Metamorphoses :

Chicago-based playwright/director Mary Zimmerman’s multi-character, Tony Award-winning play, inspired by Roman poet Ovid’s tale (first published in 8 AD) of the creation of the world, was seen at Berkeley Rep nearly 20 years ago, memorably with an onstage pool. This engagement, a coproduction with the Guthrie Theatre, reprises the series of myths about gods and mortals, filtered through Zimmerman’s enthralling theatrical sensibility.
