Richard Learoyd

Fraenkel Gallery

Presenting new large-scale landscapes, photographed this summer in Yosemite and Big Sur.

This is what SF/Arts curator Christian L. Frock had to say about Richard Learoyd :

Technical nerds are going to flip for this exhibition centered around British artist Richard Learoyd’s color photographs created from a room-sized camera obscura, one of the oldest scientific innovations in photography. Beyond these works, Learoyd’s massive silver gelatin prints, some of which are up to 80” wide, are made from a portable camera obscura of his own devising.
