By Dahlak Brathwaite; Directed by Roberta Uno; Choreography by Toran X. Moore. Try/Step/Trip is a spoken word, multi-character musical performed in the body through the language of step dance. The story follows the journey of an anonymous narrator as he re-imagines his experience in a court-ordered drug rehabilitation program through a montage of lucid, sobriety-induced dreams. The Rueff at A.C.T.'s Strand Theater

This is what SF/Arts curator Jean Schiffman had to say about Try/Step/Trip :

Dahlak Brathwaite created this spoken-word, dream-like musical in which, as narrator, he re-creates the experience of a young black man who’s continually stopped without cause by police and eventually ends up in court and ultimately in a court-ordered drug rehab program. The hour-long work-in-progress, part of A.C.T.’s Artshare program, is directed by Roberta Uno and has a six-member cast.
