Musical Revival | Music and Lyrics by Richard M. Sherman and Robert B. Sherman; Book by Julian Fellowes; Directed by Susi Damilano. The entitled children of the stern Mr. Banks have made short work of a string of nannies. But when the tattered sorceress Mary Poppins arrives on their doorstep, she must use a combination of magic and common sense to engage the children to drop their silver spoons and lead their deadened dad to kite-flying redemption. A new take on a classic tale.
In SF Playhouse’s rendition of the Richard M. Sherman/Robert B. Sherman/Julian Fellowes musical, El Beh plays the stern, magical nanny with the umbrella and the carpet bag. It’s based on British writer P.L. Travers’ beloved 20th-century children’s books and the Walt Disney film. Susi Damilano directs a singing and dancing cast of 18, with choreography by Kimberly Richards.
