Acclaimed local playwright Philip Kan Gotanda is world-premiering this play at the East Bay’s six-year-old Ubuntu Theater. Gotanda was inspired by Hermann Hesse’s “Journey to the East,” calling his contemporary version a surreal parable “on identity, community and prejudice.” Michael Socrates Moran directs a cast of six.
