Zak Ové: Invisible Man and the Masque of Blackness

San Francisco Arts Commission Gallery

Invisible Man and the Masque of Blackness is a monumental installation of 40 identical figurative sculptures that speak to contemporary issues of race, politics and identity.

This is what SF/Arts curator Christian L. Frock had to say about Zak Ové: Invisible Man and the Masque of Blackness :

San Francisco welcomes the North American debut of British Trinidadian visual artist Zak Ové’s “Invisible Man and the Masque of Blackness,” a 40-part installation of identical resin and graphite figurative sculptures, each more than 6 feet tall and weighing more than 300 pounds. This striking work is a subtle nod to Ralph Ellison’s “Invisible Man.”
