Homegrown Heroes: Oakland A's at 50

Oakland Museum of California

This new installation in the Gallery of California History celebrates the Oakland A's 50th anniversary. Honor three iconic homegrown heroes--Dennis Eckersley, Rickey Henderson, and Dave Stewart--and get up close with rare photographs, high school yearbook images, and sports memorabilia worn by the players to learn about their roots in The Town and contributions to the team.

This is what SF/Arts curator Christian L. Frock had to say about Homegrown Heroes: Oakland A's at 50 :

The Oakland Athletics baseball team—our beloved East Bay underdogs—are highlighted in this fun exhibition looking at 50 years of playing ball, focusing on three key players in team history: Dennis Eckersley, Rickey Henderson and Dave Stewart. Rickey Henderson was the dreamboat ball player of my childhood – everybody loved Rickey. Go to relive your memories—or perhaps to fall in love for the first time.
