Kiss

Shotgun Players

Written by Guillermo Calderón; directed by Evren Odcikin. Presented in association with Golden Thread Productions. A group of actors discover a script set in Damascus. They eagerly begin performing what appears to be a romantic melodrama, believing they will learn something about what it's like to live in Syria. Then everything explodes.

This is what SF/Arts curator Jean Schiffman had to say about Kiss :

Described as both a mystery and a thriller—not to mention a love story—this coproduction between Golden Thread and Shotgun, two adventurous theater companies, is about a group of actors in a melodrama set in Damascus, which turns out to be entirely different from what they—and you—expect it to be. Written by Guillermo Calderón, the six-actor play is directed by Evren Odcikin.
