In Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor® Dreamcoat, the Biblical saga of Joseph and his coat of many colors comes to life in a delightful musical parable. This all-ages family show was the first collaboration of Tim Rice and Andrew Lloyd Webber. Told entirely through song, the musical follows Joseph, favorite son of Jacob, who is sold into slavery by his jealous brothers, and overcomes many challenges through his honesty and good character. Eventually, elevated to the position of right-hand man to an Elvis-inspired Pharaoh, he reunites with his family.
Woodminster continues its 52nd season of outdoor summer musical theater with “Joseph and the Amazing Dreamcoat,” created in 1970 by Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice. With direction by Joel Schlader, musical direction by Mark Dietrich and choreography by Marissa Joy Ganz, Woodminster’s August selection pays tribute to the modern operatic musical style that emerged from the U.K. in the mid-to-late 1900s.
