The Hunchback of Notre Dame

The sacred space of Grace Cathedral will transform into a grand movie palace for a special Halloween screening of director Wallace Worsley's immortal 1923 silent film adaptation of Victor Hugo's The Hunchback of Notre Dame, starring Lon Chaney and featuring a live score performed on Grace's famous pipe organ by renowned organist and composer Dorothy Papadakos.

This is what SF/Arts curator Sura Wood had to say about The Hunchback of Notre Dame :

Grace Cathedral is the splendid setting for a Halloween screening of the 1923 silent masterpiece “The Hunchback of Notre Dame.” Directed by Wallace Worsley and based on Victor Hugo’s 1831 novel, which combines horror and doomed romance, it stars the incomparable Lon Chaney as Quasimodo, the tortured, deaf, blind and deformed bell ringer whose rescue and protection of the beautiful dancing girl Esmeralda costs him his life. A live score is performed on the cathedral’s pipe organ.
