Virgie Tovar

Booksmith
The Bindery hosts Virgie Tovar for the launch of her first book, You Have the Right to Remain Fat. Growing up as a fat girl, Virgie Tovar believed that her body was something to be fixed. But after two decades of dieting and constant guilt, she was over it--and gave herself the freedom to trust her own body again. Ever since, she's been helping others to do the same.
This is what SF/Arts curator Evan Karp had to say about Virgie Tovar :
Beloved local activist Virgie Tovar, who started Babecamp and the hashtag campaign #LoseHateNotWeight and is one of the nation’s leading voices on fat discrimination and body image, launches her new book, “You Have the Right to Remain Fat,” with a reading and conversation. Tovar is the managing director of Radar Productions and editor of “Hot & Heavy: Fierce Fat Girls on Life, Love and Fashion.”
