Raw Design

Museum of Craft and Design

Raw Design marks an interesting moment in the history of technique. Rather than turning to long-established, complex repertoires like those of wood joinery and glass blowing, designers seem to prefer inventing new techniques, or else act as if their medium were being discovered for the first time.

This is what SF/Arts curator Christian L. Frock had to say about Raw Design :

Curated by Glenn Adamson, this exhibition considers the evolving technical aspects and newer techniques of craft and design. Featuring works by more than 20 artists, including Julia Kunin, Marlène Huissoud, Max Lamb, Iris Eichenberg, Brad Evan Taylor and Omer Arbel, among others, this work considers the relationship between digital techniques and handicraft, and their uncertain futures.
