The House Imaginary

San Jose Museum of Art

In this exhibition, the house is a lens through which artists explore memory, identity, and belonging in an increasingly itinerant world.

This is what SF/Arts curator Christian L. Frock had to say about The House Imaginary :

Featuring works by Carmen Lomas Garza, Todd Hido, Mildred Howard, Salomon Huerta, Mike Kelly, Won Ju Lim, An Te Liu, Bill Owens, Larry Sultan, Apichatpong Weerasethakul, Rachel Whiteread and Tabaimo, among many others, the San Jose Museum’s vast show of sculpture, painting, film, photography and work on paper focuses themes of memory, identity and belonging in a globalized, peripatetic society.
