Migrations of humanity, whether instigated by war, conflict, persecution, poverty or climate change, transport peoples from the known to the unknown. This exhibition explores the personal and observed narratives surrounding the struggles of flight, the immigration process, asylum, assimilation, deportation, threats of violence and the perception of being "other" within the American culture. Curated by Gutfreund Cornett Art
This exhibition, organized by independent curatorial team Gutfreund Cornett Art, considers the struggles of migration, assimilation and deportation, as well as the othering of American immigrants in contemporary culture. "Beyond Borders" explores the personal narratives of these experiences through the work of 24 artists, including Taraneh Hemami, Julio Cesar Morale and others.
