Presenting an exhibition of recent work by Bay Area artist Benicia Gantner. For her fifth solo show at the gallery, Gantner presents a new series of dimensional collages and wall-mounted sculptures.
Benicia Ganter’s work relies on the astonishingly graphic qualities of vinyl, powder-coated steel, staples, tape and sometimes shadows, to create pieces that blur the line between whimsy and seriousness. Call me a fan; I enjoy the slickness of the materials and the abstract images she creates. I also like that her candy-colored work is never as simple as it might appear to be.
