MATRIX 268: Veronia De Jesus

UC Berkeley Art Museum Pacific Film Archive

MATRIX 268 features 239 drawings by the Los Angeles–based artist Veronica De Jesus (b. 1970), who from 2004 until 2016 made portraits of artists, writers, and diverse cultural figures to mark their passing.

This is what SF/Arts curator Christian L. Frock had to say about MATRIX 268: Veronia De Jesus :

Veronica De Jesus began creating memorial portraits to mark the passing of artists, writers and diverse cultural figures in 2004. Early on her subjects included famous chef Julia Child and lesser known Polish poet Czes?aw Mi?osz—the range of her subjects speaks to the diversity of her interests, which runs a thread through this large body of work, show together here for the first time.
