Thirty-six international artists consider the nature of sanctuary through an interactive installation of hand-woven rugs, offering visitors a multiplicity of perspectives on this basic human need.

This is what SF/Arts curator Christian L. Frock had to say about Sanctuary :

For-Site presents its latest in a series of site-specific installations situated in the historic Presidio of San Francisco—this time in the Fort Mason Chapel, a sanctuary space built in 1942 for nondenominational worship and community gathering. Thirty-six international artists from 20+ countries around the world have reflected on the notion of sanctuary through a series of handmade rugs.
