This is what SF/Arts curator Evan Karp had to say about Masha Gessen: The Future is History :

Russian-American journalist and Putin biographer Masha Gessen (“The Man Without A Face: The Unlikely Rise of Vladimir Putin”) talks about her new book “The Future is History: How Totalitarianism Reclaimed Russia,” a narrative work of nonfiction that charts the effects, on the personal lives of several Russians, of Russia’s last three decades toward democracy, and lapse into totalitarianism.
