The theme for this year is RESPECT. This is what SF/Arts curator Sura Wood had to say about UNAFF 2017: Respect :

Founded 20 years ago by a Stanford University lecturer, the U.N. Association Film Fest (UNAFF) has grown into a premier human rights event featuring a variety of international documentaries on pressing social issues, from female autonomy, U.S. immigration policy and climate change to America’s burgeoning prison populations, rape as a weapon of warfare and victims of honor killings in Arab countries.
