Philippine Art

Asian Art Museum

"Philippine Art: Collecting Art, Collecting Memories" reveals the Philippines' role as a center of artistic exchange and innovation, where artists with their own indigenous religions and traditions were exposed to new ideas from the trade between China and India.

This is what SF/Arts curator Christian L. Frock had to say about Philippine Art :

Coming on the heels of more than a decade of studying the artistic innovation of the Philippines, from the precolonial period to the present, the Asian Art Museum has organized this unprecedented exhibition featuring 25 recent acquisitions, ranging from indigenous carving, jewelry, and textiles to devotional statues to landscape paintings to contemporary works.
